Alcoa AA kicked off the third-quarter earnings season on Tuesday after the closing bell. For the fiscal third-quarter, the aluminum maker reported a net loss of $143 million or $0.13 per share, compared to income of $172 million or $0.15 per share, in the year ago period.
On an adjusted basis, which is comparable to analysts' consensus, the company reported income of $32 million or $0.03 per share. This came in ahead of Wall Street analysts' consensus EPS estimates of breakeven.
Sales in the period were $5.83 billion, a 9 percent decline versus the $6.42 billion that the company reported in last year's third-quarter. This also beat analysts' consensus revenue estimates of $5.54 billion.
In Tuesday's after hours trading session, AA has added 0.66 percent to $9.19.
