MetLife MET reported a strong rise in its second-quarter earnings.
MetLife's quarterly profit climbed to $2.3 billion, versus $1.1 billion, in the year-ago period. On a per-share basis, MetLife earned $2.12, versus $1 in the year-ago period.
Its operating profit climbed to $1.33 per share versus $1.13 per share. However, operating revenue rose to $16.79 billion. However, analysts were expecting operating earnings of $1.24 per share on revenue of $16.98 billion.
MetLife shares closed at $30.43 yesterday.
