Tesla's Last-Minute Tweaks To Cybertruck Event, Reservation Fee Cause Confusion: What You Need To Know

As it gears up to its much-awaited Cybertruck delivery event, Tesla Inc TSLA made a few changes to its event time and vehicle reservation costs, confusing prospective buyers and investors looking to attend the function.

What Happened: As per the latest update from Cybertruck’s official X account, the delivery event will be held at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Texas on Thursday at 2 p.m. CT. This is an hour later than what was announced by a senior executive of the company earlier in the day.

Tesla VP of Investor Relations Martin Viecha had said earlier that the event would be held around 1 p.m. CT, in a bid to clarify to people who thought it was an evening event.

The company’s website also briefly displayed an increased reservation fee of $250, which would have been the first price hike in four years, but Tesla changed it back to the original $100.

According to data from a crowd-sourced online reservation tracker for the Cybertruck, net reservations for the vehicle have now crossed the two-million threshold.

Why It Matters: The excitement amongst Tesla enthusiasts is building as the delivery event nears. Tesla has also put Cybertrucks on display in several showrooms across the U.S. which have been pulling a significant audience.

However, while CEO Elon Musk and Tesla have dropped hints about the vehicle now and then, further details pertaining to configuration and pricing continue to be under wraps.
