You Can Now Delete Your Threads Account Without Losing Your Instagram Account

Instagram head Adam Mosseri has announced that users can delete their Threads accounts without deleting their Instagram accounts.

What Happened: Meta Platforms Inc.'s META Threads became the fastest consumer app to 100 million users, and most of us joined when the buzz was at its peak at launch.

However, due to how intricately Threads accounts were linked to Instagram, users who wanted to delete their Threads account would have had to delete their Instagram accounts as well.

Fortunately, Meta has responded to user requests and now allows them to delete one account without killing the other in the process.

The Threads app for iOS and Android now includes an option for users to delete their profiles, apart from giving an option to deactivate. While deleting a profile is permanent, deactivation is temporary.

If you want only temporarily to leave Threads, you can deactivate your profile.

However, if you want to leave the social network permanently, you must delete your account.

Apart from this, Threads also has an option to prevent your posts from appearing on Instagram and Facebook.

How To Delete Threads Account Without Deleting Instagram Account

To delete your Threads account, just follow these steps:

  • Make sure you have the latest version of Threads on your iOS or Android device.
  • Now, open Threads and go to Settings > Account > Delete or Deactivate Profile.
  • Finally, tap Delete.

That's it, you're done.
