WhatsApp Makes It Easier To Manage Voice Chats For Large Groups: Here's How You Can Use It

Meta Platforms Inc.'s META WhatsApp has made managing voice chats for large groups easier than ever. Users can now join group voice chats even after they have started, just like X's Spaces or the Clubhouse app, which went viral during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What Happened: Meta is rolling out a new WhatsApp update for iOS and Android, making it easy to ignore or join voice chats in large groups.

WhatsApp has been testing voice chats for large groups for several months now. This feature is now rolling out to all users on the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS and Android.

The new feature allows users to start new voice chats in large groups without disturbing other users – instead of a continuing ringtone, WhatsApp pushes out silent notifications. Users can join and leave these group voice calls anytime without bothering anyone else.

This voice chat feature for large groups is rolling to groups with 33 to 128 members. This feature is also available only on the primary device, so if you have multiple devices linked to your WhatsApp account, you will have to use your primary device to access these voice chats.

How To Start A WhatsApp Voice Chat

Here's how you can start a WhatsApp voice chat in large groups:

  • Download and install the latest version of WhatsApp on your iPhone or Android device.
  • Open the group you want to start a voice chat with.
  • Tap the wave-like icon on the top right of the screen.
  • Now, tap again to start the WhatsApp voice chat.

Once you start a voice chat, all the group members will receive a silent push notification to join.

Group members can see who has joined the voice chat. They can also join and leave these chats whenever they want, as long as the chat is ongoing.
