Samsung's Galaxy S24 Might Borrow A Key Feature From Apple's iPhone 15 Pro

Zinger Key Points
  • Samsung is reportedly considering the use of titanium frames for its upcoming Galaxy S24 models.
  • This shift mirrors Apple's choice of materials for its iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models.
  • The adoption of titanium frames, while enhancing the aesthetic appeal, may also lead to a price hike in the devices.

In a potentially exciting development for tech enthusiasts, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. SSNLF is rumored to be considering titanium frames for its forthcoming Galaxy S24 models, borrowing a key feature from Apple Inc.’s AAPL iPhone 15 Pro.

What Happened: Samsung initially planned to stick with the conventional aluminum frame for the Galaxy S24 and S24+ models. But the latest speculation points towards all three Galaxy S24 variants, including the S24 Ultra, featuring a titanium frame.

According to tipster Revegnus, Samsung is in the process of manufacturing titanium frames for its base Galaxy S24 model and obtaining frames for the S24+ and S24 Ultra from third-party manufacturers. This indicates a shift from stainless steel to titanium, echoing a similar strategy adopted by Apple for its iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However, another well-known tipster, Ice Universe, says that only the top-tier Galaxy S24 Ultra will use the titanium design.

However, it’s crucial to remember that incorporating titanium frames could potentially escalate the price of the devices. Once again, Samsung might follow Apple’s lead, balancing thermal conductivity and cost with a mix of titanium and aluminum.

While these rumors add a new dimension to the anticipation of the Galaxy S24 series release, it is prudent to maintain skepticism until further details emerge or official announcements are made.

Why It Matters: The rumors about the use of titanium frames arrive against the backdrop of earlier speculations, casting a shadow on the Galaxy S24’s prospects.

Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 2400 chipset could be noticeably less powerful than Apple’s A17 Pro chipset. However, switching to a titanium design might help Samsung increase its upcoming flagship phone’s value proposition.
