Elon Musk's X Takes A Step Closer To 'Everything App' Goal As CEO Yaccarino Confirms Payment Feature

Elon Musk’s pursuit of an all-in-one “everything app” called ‘X’ has inched closer to realization, as Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed the forthcoming integration of several features, including a payment option.

What Happened: On Wednesday, Yaccarino shared a brief video that gave users a glimpse of the upcoming changes that align with Musk’s vision to make X an “everything app.”

Most notably, the addition of a payment feature was confirmed, which would allow users to conduct financial transactions directly on the platform.

While the video provided a tempting preview, specific details about its functionality and rollout timeline were not disclosed.

Enhanced Communication: Beyond payments, the video hinted at further enhancements. X users can anticipate the introduction of video calling capabilities. This addition aligns with Musk’s vision of making ‘X,’ formerly Twitter, a comprehensive platform that goes beyond text-based interactions.

Job Search On ‘X’: Another feature previously hinted at was job search functionality. X users will soon be able to seek employment opportunities directly through the platform, potentially positioning the platform’ as a one-stop destination for personal and professional networking.

It’s worth noting that it was reported that Musk intends to introduce a “low-tier” fee for X users. He suggested this measure as a means to combat the proliferation of bots on the platform. However, details about the fee structure and launch haven’t been disclosed yet.

Why It’s Important: Musk’s tenure as the head of X has been filled with chaotic decisions and upgrades. From firing 85% of the Twitter staff to monetizing the coveted blue badge for $8 per month, Musk has faced backlash on several occasions.

He was also criticized for reinstating the accounts of former U.S. President Donald Trump nearly two years after he got banned from the microblogging site for inciting violence.

However, with the imminent introduction of payment features and various other enhancements, the platform appears poised to offer an unprecedented array of services, which could redefine Musk’s chaotic ride.
