Leaked Email Shows Elon Musk Calling For High Standard Of Quality In Cybertruck Production: 'If Lego And Soda Cans Do It, So Can We'

According to a leaked email, Elon Musk CEO of Tesla Inc. TSLA, has set “single-digit micron” tolerance as the standard for the Cybertruck‘s production, citing the precision of LEGO and soda cans as examples, Electrek reported.

Musk’s email to Tesla employees emphasized that the Cybertruck’s design, featuring straight edges and bright metal, exacerbates dimensional variations. He emphasized that in order to achieve the desired fit and finish, every part of the vehicle, internal or from suppliers, should have a sub-10 micron accuracy.

“If LEGO and soda cans, which are very low cost, can do this, so can we,” a part of the email read.

Despite past criticism of fit and finishes in Tesla’s products, it’s widely accepted that the company has made significant improvements, with newer models like the Model Y receiving positive reviews.

Tesla plans to commence official Cybertruck production in the upcoming weeks, aiming for a delivery event by the end of the quarter.
