iPhone 15 Could Charge Up To 30% Faster, Thanks To The USB-C Port

Apple Inc.'s AAPL iPhone 15 is rumored to support up to 30% faster charging speeds, thanks to the highly anticipated USB-C port that is expected to debut this year on iPhones.

What Happened: Apple could give the iPhone 15 charging speeds a boost of up to 30%, increasing it from 27W to 35W. All this is thanks to the USB-C port that the company's upcoming flagship is likely to use, ditching the Lightning port, reported 9to5Mac.

Some iPhone 15 models are likely to get the fast charging boost, but it's unclear which of them will support 35W charging. We expect the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to support it, but the third could be any of the two non-Pro models.

Not The First Time: This is not the first time that it has been rumored that the iPhone 15 models will support faster charging speeds – noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said last year that he expects Apple to switch to the USB-C port in 2023, which could also boost the charging speeds.

So far, it is widely expected that the iPhone 15 series will switch to the USB-C port and ditch the Lightning port. Earlier this week, another finding revealed that this port could supercharge iPhone 15's data transfer speeds to up to 40Gbps.

The iPhone 15 Pro models are also expected to feature a titanium design and an Action Button borrowed from the Apple Watch Ultra. Apple is also expected to use the A17 Bionic chipset on the Pro models, while the non-Pro models will likely use the A16 Bionic chipset. However, there could be a $100 price hike as well.

The iPhone 15 series is expected to launch on September 12. We should know more about Apple's upcoming flagships then.
