Mike Pence Says Trump's Role In Capitol Riots Was 'Reckless,' But Not 'Convinced That They Were Criminal'

Former Vice President Mike Pence has stated that while he considers former President Donald Trump‘s actions leading up to the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, to be “reckless,” he is “not yet convinced” they were criminal, NBC News reports.

Pence’s Take on Trump’s Actions: Pence, in an interview, said, “While his words were reckless, based on what I know, I am not yet convinced that they were criminal.”

He expressed his be;ief that history will hold Trump accountable for his actions on that day.

Despite their differences over the Jan. 6 incident, Pence has refrained from directly attacking Trump since announcing his presidential campaign. He defended his strategy to a voter at a town hall in New Hampshire last week, stating, “I'm not interested in trading insults with my old friend.”

Trump’s Legal Troubles: The comments come amid Trump receiving a letter from special counsel Jack Smith, indicating that he is the target of a grand jury investigation examining the Jan. 6 riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
