Rivian CEO Flexes 'New Threads' Outfit On Zuckerberg's Latest App — But Skips Update On Musk's Twitter

Rivian Automotive Inc RIVN CEO RJ Scaringe joined Mark Zuckerberg‘s new app Threads over the weekend with a “new threads” outfit. He chose to skip the update on rival platform Twitter, which is currently owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

What Happened: Scaringe posted a picture of himself in a Tipsy Elves one-piece ski suit with the caption, “New threads for threads.” The suit in electric blue, yellow, and black drew excited comments from users who appreciated the bold outfit.

Responding to a user who said, “Love it — as long as this isn't a new interior colorway 😆,” Scaringe replied saying “Good idea. :)”

Since its launch last week, Threads has become a hot topic of discussion, with many pointing out its resemblance to Elon Musk‘s Twitter. Elon Musk is also the CEO of EV giant Tesla.

Why It Matters: Scaringe is not the only CEO of an EV company to have joined Twitter’s rival app. Fisker CEO Henrik Fisker is also active on the platform.

Fisker has been posting updates only on Instagram since August 2022, when he exited Twitter after Musk first sealed a deal to buy the microblogging platform. Fisker said at the time said he did not "want a competitor to determine how my followers experience Fisker as we grow our company.”

Meanwhile, Threads’ userbase is fast growing and is nearing 100 million in less than a week of launch.
