'I Would Be Dead By Now': Ontario Man Credits Apple Watch For Saving His Life

Apple Watch has saved another life by calling emergency services and the wife of an Ontario man who fell off a ladder and got struck on his head. The fall rendered him unable to make a call, and that's when Apple Watch's ‘Fall Detection' feature kicked in and saved his life.

What Happened: Apple Watch's ‘Fall Detection' feature dialed emergency services and the wife of an Ontario man, Alexander Laserson after he fell from a ladder, reported AppleInsider.

“Without the Apple Watch, it is possible I would be dead by now. The technology works," Laserson said.

Apple Inc.'s AAPL smartwatches have been credited with saving the lives of their users on several occasions thanks to the various health monitoring and detection features.

From detecting undiagnosed heart conditions to crash and fall detection, Apple Watch features have made them more than just a fashion accessory.

When Laserson fell, he could not respond to the fall detection alert on his Apple Watch. After a minute, the watch alerted emergency services and his wife, who responded to emergency services, and Laserson was eventually rushed in an ambulance. He was given seven stitches.

Last week, a Cincinnati woman reported that her Apple Watch detected an unusually high heart rate and woke her up. It was later confirmed that she had a life-threatening blood clot, which, if left untreated, would have resulted in a 50/50 chance of survival.
