YouTube Chief Talks Artificial Intelligence, Assures AI Tools for Video Creators

  • Creators can expand their storytelling and raise their production value, from virtually swapping outfits to creating a fantastical film setting through AI’s generative capabilities, Mohan wrote
  • OpenAI Inc and Microsoft Corp MSFT have launched consumer-friendly products like AI chatbots and image-creating services.
  • Google invested nearly $400 million in artificial intelligence startup Anthropic AI, which trialed a rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
  • Google trialed new AI-powered chat products to integrate them into a search engine. 
  • Google worked on a project under its cloud unit called “Atlas” to respond to the large-language chatbot ChatGPT.
  • Google also tested a chatbot called “Apprentice Bard,” where employees can ask questions and receive detailed answers similar to ChatGPT
  • The product tests followed a meeting where employees flagged the company’s competitive edge in AI, given the sudden popularity of Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
  • “We’re taking the time to develop these features with thoughtful guardrails. Stay tuned in the coming months as we roll out tools for creators as well as the protections to embrace this technology responsibly,” Mohan wrote.
