Worst Performing Industries For November 4, 2016


The Dow rose 0.11 percent to 17,950.50, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 0.24 percent to 5,070.70. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.25 percent to 2,093.86.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Photographic Equipment & Supplies: This industry slipped 11 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was GoPro Inc GPRO, which fell 11 percent. GoPro reported downbeat results for its third quarter and issued a weak forecast for the current quarter.
  • Security Software & Services: This industry declined 3.6 percent by 11:00 am with Symantec Corporation SYMC moving down 8.4 percent. Symantec reported upbeat Q2 earnings and disclosed that its CFO Thomas Seifert will retire at the end of the month. The company named Nick Noviello as new CFO.
  • Home Health Care: This industry fell 2.1 percent by 11:00 am ET. Amedisys Inc AMED shares dropped 12 percent in today's trading. Amedisys reported downbeat quarterly earnings and named Christopher Gerard as its new COO.
  • Cement: The industry dropped 1.8 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Cemex SAB de CV (ADR) CX, which declined 1 percent.
