Chinese stocks were trading mostly flat on Friday. The Shanghai Composite gained 0.94 points, or 0.03 percent to 3,129.88.
Investors will be looking for U.S. nonfarm payrolls report later Friday. US stock markets closed lower overnight, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 0.16 percent, to 17,930.67, the S&P500 index dropping 0.44 percent to 2,088.66, and the Nasdaq Composite slipping 0.92 percent to 5,058.41.
The Nikkei Japan services PMI climbed to 50.5 in October, compared to 48.2 in September.
Oil prices traded higher on Friday, with the US WTI crude futures on the NYMEX gaining 0.20 percent to trade at $44.75 a barrel.

- China State Construction Engineering Corp Ltd (601668: SHH) shares gained 3.6 percent to 8.00 CNY.
- China United Network Communications Ltd (600050: SHH) rose 2.3 percent to 5.39 CNY.
- China Northern Rare Earth Group High-Tech Co Ltd (600111: SHH) shares rose 2.2 percent to 12.93 CNY.
- China Railway Group Ltd (601390: SHH) shares down around 1.7 percent to 8.71 CNY.
- CRRC Corp Ltd (601766: SHH) dropped 1.1 percent to 9.39 CNY.
- China Shipbuilding Industry Co Ltd (601989: SHH) fell 0.6 percent to 6.51 CNY.
