Toyota's U.S. October Sales Fell 8.7% From A Year Ago

- October's total sales mark a decrease of 8.7 percent from October 2015.
- However, sales were lower by 1.7 percent when factoring in two fewer selling days (Daily Selling Rate) this October.
- According to Bloomberg, Toyota's sales data fell notably short of what analysts were expecting.
- Sales of Toyota branded vehicles fell 9.1 percent from a year ago on a volume basis to 161,492.
- Sales of Lexus branded vehicles fell 6.2 percent from a year ago on a volume basis to 24,803.
- Sales of Toyota branded light trucks rose 6.6 percent on a DSR basis.
- Sales of Toyota branded SUVs rose nearly 10 percent on a DSR basis.
- Sales of the Toyota Highlander rose 32.7 percent and posted its best-ever October.
- Sales of Toyota trucks rose 2.7 percent on a volume basis and nearly 11 percent on a DSR basis as part of a strategy to counter overall sales declines.
- Lexus LUVs and NX model both posted their best-ever October sales.
- Lexus LX model sales soared 162 percent.
