Indian Stock Markets Open Mixed


Indian stock markets traded mixed on Tuesday. The S&P BSE Sensex declined 18 points, or 0.06 percent at 27912.16. The 30-share index reached a low of 27,926.28 in morning trade. The Nifty50 rose around 6.8 points at 8632.50, touching a low of 8,631.10 in the first thirty minutes of trading.

The S&P BSE Midcap Index rose 0.05 percent, while the BSE S&P Smallcap Index gained 0.03 percent.

Shares of HDFC, Hero MotoCorp and Adani Ports were the major gainers among the BSE Sensex, while ONGC and Axis Bank were the major losers.

The Indian rupee was trading at 66.71 against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday.

US stock markets closed mostly lower overnight, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 0.10 percent, the S&P500 index dropping 0.01 per cent, and the Nasdaq Composite slipping 0.02 percent.

US WTI crude futures on the NYMEX gained 0.17 percent to trade at $46.94 per barrel.

Top market movers among the BSE index are as follows

  • Shares of Solitaire Machine Tools Ltd. rose 20 percent to 49.50 INR.
  • Hind Rectifiers Ltd. shares gained around 20 percent to 114.30 INR.
  • JK Agri Genetics Ltd. shares surged 19 percent to 726.00 INR.
  • IKF Technologies Ltd. rose about 18 percent to 1.05 INR.

 

  • Birla Cotsyn (India) Ltd. dropped around 50 percent to 0.05 INR.
  • MPS Infotecnics Ltd. fell around 33 percent to 0.10 INR.
  • FCS Software Solutions Ltd. slipped 14 percent to 0.30 INR.
  • Shekhawati Poly Yarn Ltd. shares declined 13 percent to 1.75 INR.
