Worst Performing Industries For August 30, 2016


The Dow fell 0.28 percent to 18,451.69, while the NASDAQ composite index fell 0.22 percent to 5,220.96. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 0.24 percent to 2,175.15.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Cement: This industry slipped 1.8 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Copa Holdings, S.A. CPA, which fell 1.2 percent. Copa Holdings’ PEG ratio is -0.74.
  • Residential Construction: This industry declined 1.2 percent by 11:00 am with New Home Company Inc NWHM moving down 0.8 percent. New Home shares have dropped 28.16 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has increased 10.56 percent in the same period.
  • Diversified Communication Services: This industry fell 1.1 percent by 11:00 am ET. MER Telemanagement Solutions Ltd. MTSL shares dropped 5.8 percent in today's trading. MER Telemanagement shares have declined 9.09 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 10.56 percent in the same period.
  • Auto Parts Stores: The industry dropped 1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was AutoZone, Inc. AZO, which declined 1.7 percent.
