At 10:30 am, the Dow fell 0.35 percent to 18,487.96, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved down 0.29 percent to 2,171.74 and the NASDAQ composite index declined 0.27 percent to 5,212.75.

The industries that are still afloat in the market today are:

  • Regional - Southwest Banks: This industry gained 0.6 percent by 10:30 am. The top stock within the industry was Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc. (NYSE: CFR), which gained 1.6 percent. Cullen/Frost Bankers shares have gained 0.37 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has increased 3.60 percent in the same period.
  • Internet Information Providers: This industry rose 0.5 percent by 10:30 am ET. The top performer in this industry was MeetMe Inc (NASDAQ: MEET), which gained 6.4 percent. MeetMe reiterated strong guidance figures for its third quarter and full year. For Q3 management expects revenue of $17 million to $17.5 million, which compares to consensus of $17.28 million, and adjusted EBITDA of $6.5 million to $7 million, up at least 25 percent year-over-year.
  • Regional - Southeast Banks: The industry gained 0.4 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Cardinal Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: CFNL), which gained 8.6 percent. Bloomberg TV reported that United Bancshares Inc. (NASDAQ: UBOH) is in talks to acquire Cardinal
  • Waste Management: This industry moved up 0.4 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Avalon Holdings Corp (NYSE: AWX), which rose 4.2 percent.
