At 10:30 am, the Dow fell 0.35 percent to 18,487.96, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved down 0.29 percent to 2,171.74 and the NASDAQ composite index declined 0.27 percent to 5,212.75.

The industries that are still afloat in the market today are:

  • Regional - Southwest Banks: This industry gained 0.6 percent by 10:30 am. The top stock within the industry was Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc. CFR, which gained 1.6 percent. Cullen/Frost Bankers shares have gained 0.37 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has increased 3.60 percent in the same period.
  • Internet Information Providers: This industry rose 0.5 percent by 10:30 am ET. The top performer in this industry was MeetMe Inc MEET, which gained 6.4 percent. MeetMe reiterated strong guidance figures for its third quarter and full year. For Q3 management expects revenue of $17 million to $17.5 million, which compares to consensus of $17.28 million, and adjusted EBITDA of $6.5 million to $7 million, up at least 25 percent year-over-year.
  • Regional - Southeast Banks: The industry gained 0.4 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Cardinal Financial Corporation CFNL, which gained 8.6 percent. Bloomberg TV reported that United Bancshares Inc. UBOH is in talks to acquire Cardinal
  • Waste Management: This industry moved up 0.4 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Avalon Holdings Corp AWX, which rose 4.2 percent.
