Worst Performing Industries For July 22, 2016


The Dow fell 0.01 percent to 18,514.66, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 0.26 percent to 5,087.20. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.16 percent to 2,168.57.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Diagnostic Substances: This industry slipped 1.2 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was AMAG Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AMAG, which fell 2.3 percent. AMAG Pharmaceuticals is expected to report Q2 financial results on August 9, 2016.
  • Computers Wholesale: This industry declined 0.9 percent by 11:00 am with Ingram Micro Inc. IM moving down 2.3 percent. Ingram Micro is scheduled to release Q2 financial results on Thursday, July 28, 2016.
  • Insurance Brokers: This industry fell 1 percent by 11:00 am ET. CNinsure Inc. (ADR) CISG shares dropped 3.7 percent in today's trading. CNinsure shares have dropped 2.54 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 2.41 percent in the same period.
  • Healthcare Information Services: The industry dropped 0.7 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was athenahealth, Inc ATHN, which declined 10.8 percent. athenahealth posted downbeat Q2 earnings.
