Worst Performing Industries For June 20, 2016


The Dow rose 1.41 percent to 17,924.27, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 1.59 percent to 4,876.78. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 1.24 percent to 2,096.81.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Silver: This industry slipped 1.4 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Pan American Silver Corp. (USA) PAAS, which fell 2.8 percent. Pan American Silver’s PEG ratio is -9.32.
  • Drug Related Products: This industry declined 1.3 percent by 11:00 am with Perrigo Company plc PRGO moving down 1.9 percent. Argus Research downgraded Perrigo from Buy to Hold.
  • Security & Protection Services: This industry fell 0.8 percent by 11:00 am ET. Universal Security Instruments, Inc. UUU shares dropped 1.1 percent in today's trading. Universal Security Instruments shares have tumbled 44.00 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has dropped 1.84 percent in the same period.
  • Publishing - Newspapers: The industry dropped 0.3 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was McClatchy Co MNI, which declined 6.3 percent.
