Southwest Airlines' April Load Rises to 83.4%

Southwest Airlines Co. LUV revealed that its load for the month of April grew to 83.4 percent from 83.1 percent representing 30 basis points improvements over the previous year month. According to the company, it flew 10.4 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in April 2016, up 4.7 percent from the 9.9 billion RPMs flown in the year-ago month. Similarly, its Available seat miles (ASMs) grew 4.3 percent to 12.4 billion from 2015 ASMs of 11.9 billion. Southwest Airlines said that based on these results and current trends, it continued to expect a modest increase in its second quarter 2016 operating revenue per ASM (RASM) compared to the second quarter of the previous year. On Friday, the stock gained 0.46%.
