Fiat Vehicles Showed Irregular Levels Of Diesel Exhaust Pollution, Report Says

According to a report by Reuters, several Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV FCAU' Fiat branded vehicles showed irregular levels of diesel exhaust pollution. Germany's Bild am Sonntag said that an investigation by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) showed that an emissions treatment system on an un-named Fiat car was throttled back after 22 minutes - a sign that the auto manufacturer could have installed technical devices or software to avoid emissions cleaning filters. The German newspaper also noted that the major auto supplier Bosch informed Germany's regulators that Fiat was active in using a mechanism that virtually disabled exhaust filters. Despite the report, shares of Fiat Chrysler were trading higher by more than 1 percent Monday morning.
