CinemaCon 2016: Everything You May Have Missed
Every year for a few days Las Vegas becomes the focal point of the film industry.
The event is CinemaCon, and it’s a time where Hollywood studio executives show off their latest and greatest to the theater owners who screen their content. It’s a way of showing the exhibitors what’s coming up this year and beyond.
In an age where streaming media is keeping people away from the theaters this face-time with Cineplex owners is important. It’s a check-in and touch base. It’s a way of showing the industry hasn’t forgotten about the brick-and-mortar buildings that first sold a two-hour escape (along with a large popcorn and drink combo).
On Sunday, Benzinga went studio-by-studio recapping all the big news and giving investors and consumers a head’s up as to the major themes learned from the convention.
