Worst Performing Industries For December 8, 2015


The Dow fell 0.38 percent to 17,663.80, while the NASDAQ composite index slipped 0.01 percent to 5,101.27. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index slipped 0.23 percent to 2,072.34.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

Dairy Products: This industry declined 5.1 percent by 11:00 am with Dean Foods Co (NYSE: DF) moving down 7 percent. Morgan Stanley downgraded Dean Foods from Equal-weight to Underweight and lowered the price target from $19.00 to $17.00.

Regional Airlines: The industry dropped 4.4 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: RJET), which declined 7.3 percent. Republic Airways shares have dropped 63.11 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 0.84 percent in the same period.

Nonmetallic Mineral Mining: This industry tumbled 3 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Foresight Energy LP (NYSE: FELP), which fell 26 percent. Foresight Energy issued an update on bondholder litigation.

Publishing - Books: This industry fell 2.8 percent by 11:00 am ET. John Wiley & Sons Inc (NYSE: JW.A) shares dropped 7.6 percent in today's trading. John Wiley & Sons reported Q2 adjusted earnings of $0.78 per share on revenue of $433 million.
