The Dow rose 1.12 percent to 16,567.52, while the NASDAQ composite index jumped 1.10 percent to 4,880.27. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index surged 1.07 percent to 1,978.89. The worst performing industries in the market today are: Photographic Equipment & Supplies: This industry declined 6.5 percent by 11:00 am with GoPro Inc GPRO moving down 6.4 percent. GoPro shares fell 3.22 percent on Friday. Industrial Metals & Minerals: The industry dropped 0.9 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Uranium Resources, Inc. URRE, which declined 40 percent. Uranium Resources shares have dropped 48.06 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has slipped 1.82 percent in the same period. Long Distance Carriers: This industry tumbled 0.7 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Elephant Talk Communications Corp ETAK, which fell 20.5 percent. Elephant Talk Communications' trailing-twelve-month ROE is -13.65 percent. Food Wholesale: This industry fell 0.5 percent by 11:00 am ET. The Chefs Warehouse, Inc CHEF shares dropped 0.7 percent in today's trading.
