US Stock Futures Signal Lower Start On Wall Street

Pre-open movers US stock futures traded lower in early pre-market trade. The index of leading economic indicators for August will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 111.5 points to 16,446.5, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures fell 13.25 points to 1,964.00. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index declined 32.25 points to 4,337.50. A Peek Into Global Markets European markets were lower today, with the Spanish Ibex Index falling 2.18 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index falling 1.59 percent and German DAX 30 index dropping 2.46 percent. French CAC 40 Index dipped 2.44 percent and London's FTSE 100 Index fell 1 percent. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average fell 1.96 percent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.30 percent, China's Composite Index Index gained 0.38 percent and India's BSE Sensex climbed 0.98 percent. Broker Recommendation Analysts at Raymond James downgraded Cablevision Systems Corporation CVC from Outperform to Underperform. Cablevision shares rose 13.88 percent to close at $32.50 yesterday.
