US Stock Futures Gain Ahead Of Jobless Claims

Pre-open movers US stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade. Data on weekly jobless claims and international trade for July will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The services PMI for August will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET, while the ISM non-manufacturing index for August will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 57.5 points to 16,387.5, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 6.50 points to 1,953.50. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index surged 15.5 points to 4,275.50. A Peek Into Global Markets European markets were mostly higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index falling 0.19 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index gaining 0.01 percent and German DAX 30 index rising 1.64 percent. French CAC 40 Index climbed 1.30 percent and London's FTSE 100 Index gained 1.53 percent. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rose 0.48 percent, and India's BSE Sensex jumped 1.22 percent. Broker Recommendation Analysts at HSBC upgraded Halliburton Company HAL from Hold to Buy and lowered the price target from $45.00 to $44.00.
