US Stock Futures Surge Ahead Of Fed Meeting

Pre-open movers US stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade, ahead of earnings from Ford Motor Company F and Twitter Inc TWTR. The Federal Open Market Committee will begin its 2-day meeting today. The S&P/Case-Shiller home price index for May will be released at 9:00 a.m. ET, while the PMI services index (flash) for July will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET. The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index and the Richmond Fed Manufacturing Index for July will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 88.5 points to 17,484.5, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 11.15 points to 2,075.65. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index surged 20.80 points to 4,543.30. A Peek Into Global Markets European markets were higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index rising 1.05 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index surging 1.23 percent and German DAX 30 index gaining 1.47 percent. French CAC 40 Index jumped 1.35 percent and London's FTSE 100 Index rose 0.89 percent. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average declined 0.10 percent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.62 percent, China's Shanghai Composite Index dropped 1.68 percent and India's BSE Sensex slipped 0.37 percent. Broker Recommendation Analysts at Morgan Stanley upgraded BlackBerry Ltd BBRY from Underweight to Equal-weight and maintained the price target of $7.00.
