Wake And Bake: Pot-Infused Coffee

While stereotypical marijuana users may have once conjured up images of lazy teens eating potato chips on the couch, the legalization of cannabis in several states has completely changed the drug's user base.

Now, everyone from the elderly to athletes are finding use for marijuana products, and entrepreneurs are rushing to create niche products to help meet the demands of every type of user.

Fairwinds Manufacturing, Inc. is one such business that has merged marijuana with one of Americans' greatest vices – coffee and is bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase "coffee pot."

A Morning Pick Up

The Vancouver-based business makes THC-infused coffee for the pot connoisseur on the go. The company's original blend, loose grounds infused with marijuana, has been upgraded to become single serve coffee pots with 10 mg, or one serving, of THC per cup.

Dubbed "Catapult," the coffee pods have become major sellers for Fairwinds; the company says nearly 60 percent of its sales are made up of single-serve, THC-laced coffee.

Making Pot More Acceptable

By marrying marijuana use with coffee consumption, many believe that the market will see a pickup. As caffeine consumption has become widely recognized by the public as acceptable drug use, many see marijuana following a similar path.

Edibles Market Growing

Coffee isn't the only way that cannabis entrepreneurs are hoping to gain more customers; the edibles market in the U.S. has exploded as the drug becomes more acceptable to the mainstream public.

Since many marijuana users are not keen on smoking, the popularity of THC-laced products from brownies to breath mints has taken off.
