Bitcoin Jobseekers Look To Bet On A Winner

With the bitcoin industry still only in its infancy, some interested jobseekers have found it more difficult to choose a job than to find one. Last weekend more than 20 companies filled the Plug and Play Tech Center in California in an effort to attract the brightest and best bitcoin employees by selling their company's mission. Companies Look For Well Rounded Employees Because most bitcoin firms are startups still working to make a name for themselves, the fair was a chance for companies like 21 Inc., BitPay and ChangeTip to find individuals with a wide variety of skills. CEO of BlockCypher Catheryne Nicholson told
CoinDesk
that their main focus was talent rather than whether or not a person fit the job description. Many companies also said they were looking for people who love bitcoin above all else.
Seekers Narrow The Field
While the number of job seekers far surpassed the number of companies present, interested parties weren't just looking for any old job. Because of the nature of startups, many worried about the long term success of a company and said hearing their mission and goals was an important part of making a decision. Companies who had a clear outline of where they planned to go in the future seemed to give candidates more confidence in their longevity.
Bitcoin Experience
While some startups required applicants to have some bitcoin-related work experience under their belts, others said people who were new to the cryptocurrency scene provided their own unique benefits for a newly formed company. Companies like BitGo's Leggett said they encouraged applicants from outside the bitcoin space as it would help them get the perspective of a person who hasn't used the currency before, much like their target audience.
