Apple Watch Shipments Cut In Half?

A rumor about the Apple Inc. AAPL Watch was circulated Monday and suggested that shipping targets were being cut in half due to manufacturing issues.

Based on a translated copy of the Economic Daily News, MacRumors reported that the Watch's plastic, lightweight screen was to blame.

Manufacturing of the Watch's "plastic OLEDs requires a different method of creating a vacuum between the OLED panel and the plastic substrate, other than the traditional water jet vacuum pumps. And because PETs are very sensitive to humidity it looks like manufacturing the Watch's display is a more complicated process than initially expected," according to the report.

No official report has come from Apple and the source also indicated that the company was already looking to expand the Watch's manufacturing capacity with Foxconn.

Shares of Apple recently traded at $127.60, up 1.4 percent.
