Yelp Falls Following Rumors Of Google Acquisition

Social media buzzed on Tuesday with speculation that Yelp Inc (NYSE: YELP) may be acquired by Google Inc (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL).

While the stock briefly spiked, it quickly pulled back and fell more than 3 percent from Monday’s close.

Rumors of Yelp being acquired are not new. In October 2014, the same rumor of a Google acquisition surfaced.

In September, both TripAdvisor Inc (NASDAQ: TRIP) and Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO) were also rumored as potential buyers of the company.

Yelp recently traded at $50.86, down 3.2 percent.
