Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson unveiled plans this afternoon to “purchase hundreds of body cameras for Houston police officers and sheriff's deputies,” according the Houston Chronicle.
The announcement was tweeted by Cindy George and the news appears to have sent shares of Digital Ally, Inc. DGLY soaring shortly after 1:50 PM EST.

The funding mechanism for the purchase of the body cameras, however, may not be totally without controversy:
.@DADevonAnderson: Money coming from civil forfeitures. "The criminals will be buying the cameras for us." #bodycameras #hounews

Civil asset forfeiture has recently been the subject of scrutiny and criticism from a number of sources, including The Washington Post and experts with knowledge of the law’s intent.
Digital Ally, Inc. closed at $15.55 Friday, up 9.43 percent.
