Atlas Pipeline Partners LP (NYSE: APL) shares jumped 9.13% to $36.69 in pre-market trading after Targa Resources Partners LP (NYSE: NGLS) and Targa Resources Corp (NYSE: TRGP) announced the purchase of Atlas Pipeline Partners LP and Atlas Energy LP (NYSE: ATLS) for $7.7 billion.

CSX (NYSE: CSX) shares rose 8.88% to $32.60 in pre-market trading. Canadian Pacific Railway (NYSE: CP) has reportedly approached CSX about a potential merger, that would create a $62 billion North American railway powerhouse, according to sources, as reported by WSJ. The approach made in the past week, was rebuffed by CSX, according to people familiar with the matter.
