RealD (NYSE: RLD) shares rose 25.24% to $11.61 after Starboard Value offered to acquire the rest of the shares in RealD (NYSE: RLD) for $12 per share. Starboard Value disclosed in a SEC filing that it had taken a 10% stake in RealD.

CBD Energy (NASDAQ: CBDE) shares gained 13.98% to $2.69 after the company named Jeffrey Tischler as Chief Financial Officer.

Ariad Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ARIA) shares gained 11.51% to $5.89 after the company reported that its investigational cancer medicine, AP26113, has received Breakthrough Therapy designation by the FDA for ALK+ non-small cell lung cancer resistant to crizotinib.

Bassett Furniture Industries (NASDAQ: BSET) climbed 11.43% to $14.72 on FQ3 resullts.

Doral Financial (NYSE: DRL) surged 7.74% to $5.43 after the company provided an update on status of its capital plan.

Tesla Motors (NASDAQ: TSLA) rose 3.40% to $248.41. Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted a teaser about a mysterious unveiling of what he called the "D" on October 9.
