US Stock Futures Up Ahead Of Economic Data

US stock futures are higher this morning, as investors are awaiting economic data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 87 points to 14,911.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 8.30 points to 1,607.60. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 21 points to 2,922.25. US stocks closed mostly lower on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.76% to 14,909.60, the S&P 500 index falling 0.43% to 1,606.28 and the Nasdaq 100 index rising 0.04% to 3,403.25. The Markit PMI manufacturing index for June will be released at 8:58 a.m. ET. Data on construction spending for May and the ISM manufacturing index for June will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. A. Schulman SHLM is expected to post its Q3 earnings at $0.65 per share on revenue of $576.10 million. Xyratex XRTX is estimated to post a Q2 loss at $0.05 per share on revenue of $203.16 million. Shares of BlackBerry BBRY tumbled 27.76% on Friday after the company posted a Q1 loss of $84 million, or $0.16 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $518 million, or $0.99 per share. European markets were mixed today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index gained 0.34%, London's FTSE 100 index dropped 0.17%, French CAC 40 Index surged 0.69% and German DAX 30 index fell 0.21%. Asian markets ended mostly higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average jumping 1.28%, China's Shanghai Composite surging 0.81% and Australia's ASX/S&P500 falling 1.79%. India's Sensex surged 1.04%.
