iPhone 5S Rumored to Ship Every Month This Summer

With nothing officially announced,

long-awaited iPhone 5S has become one of the most talked about items in technology.

It also happens to be a device with multiple release dates. In searching for information on

, investors will find rumors and reports suggesting that the iPhone 5S will ship in June, July, August or September.

For more than a month, Apple has been rumored to hold a

on June 29. The event would reportedly celebrate the iPhone's sixth anniversary while simultaneously promoting the iPhone 5S, which was expected to go on sale before the end of the month. According to the

, the iPad Mini 2 could ship in June as well.

This rumor is sourced to a

from Japan-based KDDI, a telecommunications company. The document claims that Apple will begin taking pre-orders on June 20 but will not ship the item until July. If true, it would be very unlikely that Apple would hold a June 29 event -- nine days after the pre-order campaign is rumored to begin -- to celebrate the iPhone's sixth anniversary.

Last month,

reported that the iPhone 5S was slated for an August release. The blog cited "sources familiar with the matter," adding that the device "does indeed have the same basic design as the iPhone 5, with a more advanced processor and an improved camera." It is worth noting that the same report also claimed that the next iPad could arrive "as soon as April." Unless Apple plans to hold a special, unannounced event tomorrow (the last day of the month), it is highly unlikely that the iPad 5 or iPad Mini 2 will arrive in April.

In addition to the iPad Mini rumor, the

recently published a story on the iPhone 5S, which it believes will ship in September.

The problem with all of these release dates is that they are frequently bolstered by (or originate from) the predictions of

: KGI Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo. Earlier this month Kuo announced that various

could alter Apple's product release schedule and push back several key items (such as the iPhone 5S and the iPad Mini 2). Kuo's latest estimates suggest that those devices may not ship before October or November.
