US Stock Futures Signal Higher Start On Wall Street

US stock futures are higher this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 71 points to 14,585.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 9.80 points to 1,552.50. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 19 points to 2,801.25. US stocks closed lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 1.79% to 14,599.20, the S&P 500 index dropping 2.30% to 1,552.36 and the Nasdaq 100 index declining 2.38% to 3,216.49. The ICSC-Goldman comparable store sales index will be released at 7:45 a.m. ET, while the consumer price index for March and housing starts data for March will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The Johnson Redbook Retail Sales Index will be released at 8:55 a.m. ET, while industrial production data for March will be released at 9:15 a.m. ET. HCA Holdings HCA issued downbeat first-quarter revenue forecast. Brown & Brown BRO reported upbeat first-quarter profit. BlackRock BLK is expected to report its Q1 earnings at $3.58 per share on revenue of $2.44 billion. The Coca-Cola Company KO is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.45 per share on revenue of $11.02 billion. Yahoo! YHOO is expected to post its Q1 earnings at $0.24 per share on revenue of $1.10 billion. W.W. Grainger GWW is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $2.74 per share on revenue of $2.31 billion. Intel INTC is projected to post its Q1 earnings at $0.41 per share on revenue of $12.61 billion. The Goldman Sachs Group GS is expected to report its Q1 earnings at $3.88 per share on revenue of $9.64 billion. U.S. Bancorp USB is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $0.73 per share on revenue of $5.03 billion. TD Ameritrade Holding AMTD is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.26 per share on revenue of $674.49 million. Comerica CMA is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $0.68 per share on revenue of $622.61 million. Johnson & Johnson JNJ is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $1.40 per share on revenue of $17.44 billion. CSX CSX is estimated to post its Q1 earnings at $0.40 per share on revenue of $2.92 billion. European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.57%, London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.46%, French CAC 40 Index declined 0.64% and German DAX 30 index fell 0.41%. Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average falling 0.41%, China's Shanghai Composite rising 0.59% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 dropping 0.46%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 0.46% and India's Sensex rose 2.03%.
