On Tuesday, we asked the Benzinga community to tell us whether former J.C. Penney JCP CEO Ron Johnson should return to his former employer, Apple AAPL. There’s currently no indication that either Johnson or Apple are interested in the other but the idea is compelling.
We asked you if Ron Johnson should return to Apple. The results are in:
Yes: 43.3 percent
No: 56.7 percent
Although not an overwhelming sentiment, you clearly believe that Johnson won’t be getting the employee discount on his next tablet purchase any time soon. (Unless he goes to work for Samsung) We also asked you to explain your vote. Here are a few of your comments.
“He may have realized where his strengths and weaknesses lie. I am sure the design of the stores belong to Jobs, Ive and the selected architect(s)”
“Only if he replaces Cook”
“Why rehire someone who chose to leave and failed? Apples retail success was probably more due to its products--not Johnson.”
“He has driven away his core baby boomer customers. They now shop at Macy's!!”
“Cause I said so”
