US Stock Futures Down; Jobless Claims Data In Focus

US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting weekly jobless claims data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 58 points to 13,900.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 6.30 points to 1,510.90. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 12.50 points to 2,757.75. US stocks closed mixed on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.26% to 13,982.91, the S&P 500 index rising 0.06% to 1,520.33 and the Nasdaq 100 index gaining 0.33% to 3,196.88. Data on weekly jobless claims will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. General Motors Company GM is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $0.51 per share on revenue of $39.14 billion. Discovery Communications DISCA is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.76 per share on revenue of $1.20 billion. Pepsico PEP is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.05 per share on revenue of $19.70 billion. CBS CBS is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.69 per share on revenue of $3.79 billion. PPL PPL is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.47 per share on revenue of $2.47 billion. Agilent Technologies A is expected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.67 per share on revenue of $1.69 billion. Apache APA is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $2.30 per share on revenue of $4.37 billion. Jarden JAH is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.26 per share on revenue of $1.81 billion. Molson Coors Brewing Company TAP is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $0.64 per share on revenue of $1.07 million. Cisco Systems CSCO reported upbeat FQ2 earnings. Cisco projects Q3 revenue to rise 4% to 6%. However, analysts expected growth of 6.3% for the same quarter. Whole Foods Market WFM reported a 24% rise in its fiscal first-quarter profit and narrowed its 2013 revenue outlook. In the fourth quarter, GDP in the euro zone declined 0.6% . European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.56%, London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.75%, German DAX 30 Index declined 1.13% and French CAC 40 Index fell 0.90%. Asian markets ended mostly higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 0.50%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Index gaining 0.65%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 0.85% and India's Sensex dropped 0.57%. The euro fell 0.97% against the dollar to trade at $1.3323.
