Zebra Tech's LaserBand Announces Deal with Premier Healthcare Alliance

Zebra Technologies Corporation ZBRA, a recognized global leader in barcode technologies that improve patient safety and workflow processes, today announced a new group purchasing agreement with the Premier healthcare alliance to offer LaserBand's proprietary patient identification (ID) wristbands to their members. In addition, Premier ASCEND members have also selected Zebra as a supplier for LaserBand wristbands. "For healthcare professionals, accurate and easy-to-scan barcode wristbands are essential to protect patients and streamline processes, especially as healthcare organizations transition to electronic health records," said David Freshwater, director of contract sales at LaserBand. "We view our continuing relationship with Premier as validation of Zebra's technology solutions which help improve processes, reduce errors and increase the quality of patient care." Effective February 1, 2013, Zebra's LaserBand wristbands are now available at specially negotiated pricing and terms to Premier's nationwide alliance of 2,700 hospitals, 90,000 healthcare organizations including its more than 100 ASCEND member hospitals and health systems. With Zebra's industry-leading LaserBand wristband solutions, healthcare professionals can easily create a patient wristband and link critical information from the patient's bedside to his medical record as well as the pharmacy, lab or other hospital departments through the use of a barcode. While this streamlined process can improve patient safety and care, it also can help with compliance to regulatory requirements and increase staff satisfaction through improved processes and more quality time with the patient. Zebra is committed to providing healthcare organizations with technology solutions that address their needs, such as patient safety and quality of care, efficient work processes and visibility into patient care and operations.
