US Stock Futures Slightly Lower Ahead Of Economic Data, Coca-Cola Earnings

US stock futures are slightly lower this morning, ahead of economic data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 9 points to 13,915.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 1.40 points to 1,511.70. Nasdaq 100 futures declined 1.50 points to 2,769.00. US stocks closed lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.16% to 13,971.24, the S&P 500 index falling 0.06% to 1,517.01 and the Nasdaq 100 index declining 0.06% to 3,192.00. The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index for January will be released at 7:30 a.m. ET. The Labor Department is expected to release data on job openings at 10 a.m. ET. President Barack Obama will deliver State of the Union address to Congress. The Coca-Cola Company KO is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.44 per share on revenue of $11.54 billion. Avon Products AVP is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.27 per share on revenue of $3.00 billion. Reynolds American RAI is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.73 per share on revenue of $2.06 billion. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co GT is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.20 per share on revenue of $5.34 billion. Huntsman HUN is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $0.23 per share on revenue of $2.49 billion. FMC Technologies FTI is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.57 per share on revenue of $1.72 billion. Fossil FOSL is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $2.26 per share on revenue of $930.43 million. Rackspace Hosting RAX is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.22 per share on revenue of $355.42 million. The McGraw-Hill Companies MHP is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.72 per share on revenue of $1.61 billion. The Valspar VAL is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.67 per share on revenue of $922.05 million. Marsh & McLennan Companies MMC is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $0.52 per share on revenue of $3.01 billion. Lions Gate Entertainment LGF reported upbeat third-quarter earnings. Rexnord RXN reported that its board has initiated a review of strategic alternatives, including a possible sale of the company. European markets were mixed today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.14%, London's FTSE 100 Index gained 0.11%, German DAX 30 Index fell 0.28% and French CAC 40 Index climbed 0.03%. Asian markets ended higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average surging 1.94%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Index rising 0.02% and India's Sensex gaining 0.52%. Gold futures for delivery in April fell $7 to trade at $1,642.10 an ounce in electronic trading. The ICE dollar index (DXY) gained 0.08% to trade at 80.45, up from 80.201 in late North American trading on Monday. The dollar declined 0.05% against the Japanese yen to trade at ¥94.2750, down from ¥93.42.
