US Stock Futures Down; Euro Drops Against Dollar

US stock futures are slightly lower this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 15 points to 13,281.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 2.50 points to 1,435.70. Nasdaq 100 futures declined 4.75 points to 2,818.25. US stocks closed higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average surging 0.11% to 13,306.64, the S&P 500 index rising 0.40% to 1,437.92 and the Nasdaq 100 index gaining 0.02% to 3,136.42. Infosys Ltd INFY announced its plans to acquire Lodestone Holding AG for an enterprise value of 330 million swiss francs ($350 million) in cash. John Wiley & Sons JW is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $0.73 per share on revenue of $439.23 million. Casey's General Stores CASY is expected to post its Q1 EPS at $0.95 on revenue of $1.93 billion. Titan Machinery TITN is expected to report its Q4 EPS at $0.43 on revenue of $401.91 million. Majesco Entertainment Co COOL is estimated to post a Q3 loss at $0.04 per share on revenue of $13.83 million. European markets were mostly higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.10%, London's FTSE 100 Index gained 0.01%, French CAC 40 Index rose 0.07% and German DAX 30 index gained 0.11%. Asian markets ended mostly higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 0.03%, China's Shanghai Composite gaining 0.34% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rising 0.21%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index climbed 0.13% and India's Sensex rose 0.10%. China's trade surplus widened to $26.7 billion in August, versus estimates of $17.2 billion. Exports gained 2.7% y/y, while imports declined 2.6%. Nymex crude-oil futures gained $0.07 to trade at $96.49 a barrel in electronic trade, while gold futures dropped $4.40 to $1,736.10 an ounce. The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.1% to 80.317. The euro fell 0.3% versus the dollar to trade at $1.2777. The US dollar gained 0.1% against the Japanese yen to trade at ¥78.29.
