JC Penny JCP has continually sponsored the show since 2002. In 2012, the company used Ellen Degeneres to promote a change in the company's marketing. Now, with Ron Johnson brought over from Apple AAPL, JC Penny will work to simplify its pricing system.

Coca-Cola KO has spent $47 million over the last five years on Oscar advertising. This year, the company aired a an advertisement for Diet Coke aired that celebrated the behind-the-scenes production part of the movie industry.

Walt Disney DIS owns ABC, which broadcasts the program. The going rate for a 30 second advertising slot runs at about $1.7 million. Ratings for the Oscars increased roughly 4% in 2012 over the prior year.

Apple AAPL is on this list as the creator of the iPad and iPhone. In 2012, an Academy Award mobile broadcasting app was developed for Apple's mobile iOS.
