UK Retail Sales Surge 0.9% In January

British retail sales climbed 0.9% in January, versus December last year, according to the Office for National Statistics. Economists were expecting a 0.1% decline in retail sales for the period. Sales volumes surged 2% y/y. British retail sales climbed 2.6% in December, versus December 2010.
