US Stock Futures Up; Halliburton To Report Earnings

US stock futures are slightly higher this morning, as investors are awaiting earnings from Halliburton Company HAL. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 17 points to 12,671.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 0.70 points to 1,311.50. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 3 points to 2,437.75. US stocks closed mostly higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.76% to 12,720.48, the S&P 500 index gaining 0.07% to 1,315.38 and the Nasdaq 100 index dropping 0.06% to 2,786.70. Halliburton Company is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $1 per share on revenue of $6.82 billion. Western Digital Corporation WDC is projected to post its Q2 EPS at $0.71 on revenue of $1.84 billion. Vmware Inc VMW is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.60 on revenue of $1.05 billion. CSX Corporation CSX is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.44 on revenue of $2.99 billion. Albemarle Corporation ALB is estimated to report its Q4 EPS at $1.09 on revenue of $698.43 million. Texas Instruments Incorporated TXN is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.26 per share on revenue of $3.26 billion. Packaging Corporation of America PKG is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.37 on revenue of $637.11 million. Home Depot Inc HD reported that it has bought Redbeacon.com. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index surged 0.38%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 0.56%, French CAC 40 index rose 0.40% and German DAX 30 index gained 0.35%. Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 0.0053% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 0.36%. India's Sensex gained 12.72 points. The dollar index (DXY) dropped 0.29% to 79.92, versus 80.148 in late North American trade on Friday. Crude-oil futures for February delivery gained $0.68 to $98.99 a barrel. Futures for February gold surged $12.40 to $1,676.30 an ounce.
