UAW, GM, Chrysler Race to Reach Labor Deals Before Midnight

General Motors, Chrysler and the UAW are pushing to reach a new labor contract for 72,000 workers before midnight. The current deal, signed in 2007, expires at 11:59 p.m. tonight. The deadline with Ford, where talks are more complicated, has been extended indefinitely. That contract covers 40,600 workers.
