National Security Official Swears to Protect our Nation, Now Protecting PlayStation Network

Because there is nothing more precious than the bond between mankind and its love of video games.

Sony (NYSE: SNE) is determined to prevent its hugely popular PlayStation Network from getting hacked again. The company is so determined, in fact, that it has hired a former official at the Department of Homeland Security.

According to Reuters (via SlashGear), Philip Reitinger, the former director of the U.S. National Cyber Security Center, will take on a new role as the senior VP. Sony says that Reitinger will report to general counsel Nicole Seligman.

“Certainly the network issue was a catalyst for the appointment,” a Sony spokesman told Reuters. “We are looking to bolster our network security even further.”
