Apple TV Set Speculation Heats Up

Just when you thought it was safe to assume that Apple AAPL wouldn't release its own television sets, a prominent analyst has given support to the idea that Apple will design and release its own TVs. “What Apple does really well is put everything into one box,” Gene Munster, the famous Piper Jaffray analyst, said during a radio interview with Bloomberg Surveillance. “People are much more willing to pay $1,200 for something Apple puts together that's all nice and neat than go try and tie it all together themselves.” If Munster's price point is anywhere near accurate, Apple could effectively compete with other TV manufacturers. However, the company currently sells a 27-inch Mac monitor for $1,000. At that price, it's hard to believe that Apple will turn around and sell a 40-inch TV for only $200 more.
